Woman (Gen. 2:21-23)
“21 And Jehovah God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof: 22 and the rib, which Jehovah God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man 23 And the man said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man,” Gen. 2:21-23. Literally, he took one person and from the one made two!
The woman's relationship to man is stated to be that of a “help meet,” Gen. 2:20. In Tit. 2:4 we are told the “wife is to love her husband.” In Eph. 5:22, “22 Wives, be in subjection unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” I understand this requirement, just stated, has to do with a husband as a Christian and a wife as a Christian – the context of Eph. 5:22-. The passage of I Cor. 7:3 is interesting: “3 Let the husband render unto the wife her due: and likewise also the wife to the husband.” In the marriage relationship the husband and the wife are satisfied sexually.
In creation there was a distinction made between the male and the female. The sexual desires of both the male and female are satisfied in the relationship of marriage. There is no such thing as a transgender (according to the Bible) – either you are a male or a female. The message from God is: Such practices can only arouse the indignation of God's anger. The liberalness of man cannot change what has been determined by God from the beginning.
There is a clear distinction between man and woman. Woman was created by God with certain responsibilities attached to her life. In procreation, the woman is given the responsibility of incubating, giving birth to, giving sustenance to the newborn, caring and helping the child to grow. The woman is given a loving heart, a caring disposition, her tenderness and loving concern is not that of the husband; but rather, the wife. This is not the only function performed by the wife; but, is that part of procreation that belongs to the wife, Prov. 31.
There is a statement presented by the apostle Peter that I believe is worthy of consideration: “7 Husbands, in like manner, dwell with your wives according to knowledge, giving honor unto the woman, as unto the weaker vessel, as being also joint-heirs of the grace of life; to the end that your prayers be not hindered,” I Pet. 3:7. All of the efforts of persons to make women the same as men are to no avail. The woman is not weaker intellectually; nor, is she to be thought of as weaker morally, she is not. Yet, her role in life is different from that of man.
The thought of the expression “joint-heirs of the grace of life,” is to be impressed upon the husband that he has one who is a making an effort to go to heaven, as he is, and she needs to be helped along. The word “joint-heir” shows something that is being done “jointly.” The idea seems to be, the wife helps the husband and the husband helps the wife – both are looking for eternal life - “Joint-heirs!”
Paul said, “4 Let marriage be had in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled: for fornicators and adulterers God will judge,” Heb. 13:4. All that is listed is what God has set in motion and any effort to change is an effort to change the word of God!
The word of God must be respected. One can burn the text of the Bible; one can deny the text of the Bible; one may teach something different than the text of the Bible; but my friend, one cannot destroy the text of the Bible, “25 But the word of God abideth for ever,” I Pet. 1:25.
